剧情介绍：
这部黑色喜剧根据William Knoedelseder的纪实小说改编，笑星Dave Flebotte和Jim Carrey（金凯瑞）担任执行制片人，Michael Aguilar和Christina Wayne参与制片。故事以上世纪七十年代洛杉矶为背景，在洛杉矶单口喜剧界的黄金时代，许多喜剧巨星的事业都是从那时起步的——包括David Letterman、Jay Leno、Richard Pryor和金凯瑞本人。在外人看来喜剧演员要做的仅仅是让观众发笑而已，事实上这是一件复杂的事情，许多喜剧演员在寻找灵感的过程中迷失了心智。正如该剧剧名所暗示的那样：「你们这些看戏的在台下笑得前仰后合，我这个演戏的在台上都快要累死了。」事实上剧名中的「Dying」还有另一层含义：任何一位单口喜剧演员都渴望得到名誉、地位、财富……如果幸运的话，还有上超级热门节目《The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson》的机会。为了这些东西，他们死也心甘。
